Firstly Hannah started of with a Samoan dance to entertain the visitors like Dr Nick Smith-Minister of Conservation

Then some boys did the Taufakaniua a Tongan dance to entertain people while they had their breakfast.

After that the haka group did the haka while we welcomed the visitors in it was freaky because there were cameras everywhere I was happy and I felt really Proud.

After that we all gather around in the Hall and we sang and even had a speech it was funny and cool.

Next we all went down to where the Child Care Center is gonna be built then we all gathered around Len Brown,Dr Nick Smith and Matua Jim.After they dugged the one hole on the grass Matua Jim Blessed the land.

The the House leaders went down with Len Brown and Chris to bless the rest of the houses It was cool.

TaeKwonDo

This Morning Room 10 students did TaeKwonDo with YU our instructor.

Firstly we took our shoes and socks off for our safety.Then we practice our bunches with punching bags.After that we did our kicks and then we played a really fast game called helicopter and fire It was a fun game.

TaeKwonDo is great and is awesome to do.My faviourite move is when you kick side way’s.

Hangarau Technology.

On Friday’s Our class go to Tamaki College To learn Digital Technology.Hangarau is the maori word for Technology. When we are in class, we have to use the Kiore and the Papa Patuhi to log in the Rorohiko,On the Rorohiko we have to log onto the website to go onto our digita technology every week we access the maramataka.Sometimes our Teacher will send us messages on our Imera.Sometimes our Teacher would give us dojo points on her Waea Pukoro or she might also take photo’s of us working.At school and Home some of us use our Rorohiko Ponaho.

Daily Exercise

Today we learnt that Exercise is important.Excerise is important because it is good for your blood pressure.A  30 minute walk can do more for your long term health. Not only exercise can improve your health, even if you have already been diagnosed with something.

Badminton Session

My favourite thing about Badminton was when we had to play against our class mate "which was pretty awesome.It was fun when I let go of the shuttle it felt like I was in a tournament.I found it difficult when we had to play against our class mate it was tricky.Finally we finished I was red.
I enjoyed it. :D

Today I learnt that when you post a image on the web it wont be the size that you wanted it to be so try this.

Long Bay Trip

Some students from Glenbrae school travelled to Long Bay by bus to learn about the rocky shore.Once we hopped out of the bus we had to have 10 minutes of morning tea.Then we got spilted up into 9 groups. I was in a group with Tevita and Edwina,Danielle,Anamanu,Eseki and Me.

Next Sarah told us who we were with,Our group was with Sarah YAY!!!!. Our first activity was looking for things that lived in the rock pools.Our group found heaps of stuff that belonged in the rocky pools like starfishes,limpets,carp and also dead carps,what we mostly found was moving shells called cat fish snail "THAT'S A WEIRD NAME" I pronounced .I think they called it that because every time they poke out of their shell they have these long whiskers like a cat and it has a shape of a snail's shell.That's what I think WHAT DO YOU THINK.

Sewing Session

Every Tuesday we have sewing sessions. Sewing is fun and amazing. We all had to make bags and I want to use my bag for my swimming togs. My favourite part was back Stitching. Sewing is a pretty hard job, you can get poked by the pins but you have to be careful. :D.
I love sewing it is Fun and cool. :)

School Presentation

Today at Glenbrae school we had to visit each class room in the school to show what they learned about SURVIVAL IN THE WILD. My favorite class was room 5 I liked it because we had heaps of fun stuff to do and my favorite one was making bugs out of lollies YUMMM. :) :D ;) :*) 

Netball

Today Room 10 had netball.I learned new skills the most difficult part was passing with one hand with alot of speed.I felt so proud and powerful that I achieved my goal and getting into games.I love Netball I wish we had netball for the rest of the year.

Bad News on 3 news

Today I was watching 3 news and I saw there was a horrible Flood near our house at Misson bay.Auckland are cleaning up after high winds and torrential rain battered this morning.The wild weather is now heading south towards the central North Island it is excepted to reach Wellington later today and will move further south over night.The road had to be closed, and residents were trapped in their homes as the water rose. There is a cyclone Ita near the South Island it is Scary.

Reflection

Last week I learnt how to measure angles and perimeters and I learnt how to find the different type of shapes.Pi=3.14.For writing I learnt how to persuasive writing and some of us agree that a 8 year old child should be able to have job.I Agree to it.

Basketball

Today Room 10 student from Glenbrae School had Basketball.I learned at Basketball that travel is when you hold the ball and run/walk with it.The most difficult part was spinning the basketball with one finger it was tricky.My favorite part was playing real basketball with five in each team but my team won.We were proud and powerful we done a great job.

Measurement

Today our class had to do measurement and I measured my writing book and my book is 3 and a half centimeters across and 3 and a half centimeters on the side so that is 14 centimeters altogether.

Visit to Auckland Zoo

   Auckland Zoo

On Monday the 4th 2014 our class and Room 7&9 went on a trip to the Auckland Zoo.When we got there our Tutors John,Laura and Richard introduced themselves. Then we walked to this noisy place where you can hear heaps of birds singing and talking to each other.

The next thing Laura put us into our groups and we had to go with our tutor John. We first went to this place where we saw lizards. Then our tutor John took us into this weird entrance  like a hallway but way shorter with two doors at the end.

John told us they built that weird short hallway there so the cats and mice don’t go near the birds.Once the door we entered from was closed then we can open the other door which can take you to the other side where we saw a Kakapo,two Keas and a Weka. It was creepy once I walked in but it was pretty funny because the weka was always falling down from the top of the rocks.

Then later on we moved on into this night tunnel once we walked it said to turn your flash off from your camera but the funny thing was I couldn’t see anything but we saw lots of kiwi’s.Me and Hannah spotted three kiwi’s I thought kiwi’s were small but once I looked at it clearly I was thrilled because they were huge that was my first time seeing a Kiwi in real LIFE.

After that we walked back to where we all settled down in the first place then Lennyx thanked the tutor guys on behalf of glenbrae. Then we had to get into our groups and I was with Tevita, MissAtuahiva, Mangila ,Nganga, Apii, Danielle and Gemmima and the rest. We had to eat our morning tea in this big fale but their was not enough space so our group went to go sit under a picnic table under the shade.

After a while we had to go into our own groups and our group went first to the Tiger and we saw it trying to get shade because it says that when it’s cold then the tiger will sit on the sun to get warm and when he is hot then we will sit under the shade.Then we went onto the rest of the animals onto the zoo and it was fun and trying.Sadly we had to leave the Auckland Zoo and it wasn’t cool but I wish we go back to the Zoo.

A Cake for Gum

Today at school for S.S.R I read a book called Cake for Gum and its about a baby named Gum.Gums family had to make a cake for him because Gum had his first tooth and they wanted to celebrate and Danny and Jing had to make the cake but they didn't know who to make a cake so they went to the library and had to find a book for how to make a cake.Jing found a book that can show you how to  make a  Blue Berry cake and when they finished baking the cake Gum loved it.

Study Ladder

Today for maths our class were playing study ladder and I got all my answers right I got them all on 36 seconds and I came 1st and the rest were stall doing it.
I love Study Ladder.

Rangitoto Challenge

Today Me and My Friend Edwina had a challenge to complete for our homework we only completed one challenge and it was to do activities for the little children in the Junior area. We first did a relay we had to split them into two groups one was mine and one was Edwina's group. First they had to zigzag past the cones and when you get to the end you do 5 star jumps then run and get the ball from the middle and zigzag back then the next person.

We got onto the next activity and we played octopus me and Edwina were the tagger they were pretty hard to catch and tag but there was only suppose to be one winner and it was Lilo she did a great job. Then we played a game called take the ball and it’s when you get into two groups with many players you get and you face each other and then someone has to start squeezing your hand and when they start to squeeze your hand then you have to squeeze the next person's hand then when the last person with the ball next to them and the last one to get squeezed has to pick up the ball and say I GOT THE BALL with your EYES SHUT, but unfortunately my team lost but it was FUN.

EDWINA AND I ENJOYED IT WITH THE LITTLE KIDS BUT THEY WERE LIKE LITTLE MONKEYS RUNNING AROUND CRAZY.

The Lost Backpacker

Mr Chen is  a Chinese backpacker he went walking out to a place called National Park and he was not prepared to go for his walk.He said he was going to be lucky because he would win the lotto jackpot $32 million and then Mr Chen said he was embarrassed because he never took any equipment and water.Then Mr Chen nearly died because he went to a waterfall and that’s when he was lost in the National Park without food,hiking gear and he nearly died.The alarm was raised on Tuesday noon by the owner of accommodation where Mr Chen was staying Mr Chen was not seen before he went for his walk In Tupapakura  Falls track on Sunday.Mr Chen forgot to check the Weather and then they reported that he was unprepared for the stormy weather that stuck the North Island early this Morning.After Mr Chen was rescued and he was lucky he had survived.

Today I learnt how to present my data as a line graph and an area graph.I created a spreadsheet on my document and I wrote down the days of the week but not Saturday and Sunday then I wrote the low Temperature on the next colume then I did the same thing but the high Temperature and then I created a Area graph and this is what I got.

Basketball Lesson with Our Coach Steph

                         Basketball

Basketball is a ball game for two teams of five players each in which goals are scored by throwing a ball through a fixed hoop fixed at each end of the each.

Today we learnt how to do the Chest pass, Overhead pass, long pass, bounce pass and layups.

First thing we did was to find a partner, one standing in front and one at the back. She told us it was a relay game, we had to run halfway of the court and do 5 star jumps then the next person goes.

When we finish we go through the next instruction. Which was to do two push ups. But my partner had to do the girl push ups.

As we finished we went on to the next instruction and it was to do layouts. Layouts are when you lay on your stomach and jump high with your hand up high.

Then we got onto the Competition and we still had to stay with our same partners. We first had to do practise doing the Chest pass, Overhead pass, long pass, bounce pass and layout pass.

Basketball today was fun and full of fitness. I am proud that I achieved the lesson without any problems. I hope I have another fun session.

School Resource

I think Glenbrae School would like to get a Food packaging Machine because when students don't have lunch and they forget to buy it they can go and buy their lunch from the Food packaging Machine, the teachers can use it to.

Food packaging Machine would help us with healthy food in it and it is cheap and we can use the money for something important like sport gears,school property,orphans or we could give it to the poor children in the world that needs food and if we were able to have much we can donate it to the ones who has poor cancers.

How I get to school from home

Every morning I wake up do all the jobs at home then, walk to school I walk with my little brother we see two alleyways Just 30 centimeters away from my house we walk pass it there is one alleyway on my right and one on my left we walk straight ahead,it will take me and my brother 7 minutes to get to school.

Water Fun day

On Friday the 7th Glenbrae school had water fun day it started at 9am till interval.First we did the roll then we had to line up outside we walked out to the court in our house colours. Then Mrs Ripata said “that we had to first do the obstacle race” we had to walk quietly down to our first activity I felt like the activity has lots of experience in it.Then Mrs Tofa  blew  the whistle then we had to start everyone screamed and cheered for their team mate first person was Wairua he ran and got the cup and he had to fill it up with water, then he had to crawl under four chairs stuck together with the cup in his hand then he ran straight to the blue bucket same with the other houses then we all had a go then Mrs Tofa blew the whistle to go to the next activity.

Then we went to the next activity the water slide thats when I was soaking wet it was only a small slide because the black one keeps blowing away in the wind but it was fun I always fall on my butt Edwina made me soaking wet and soapy then we went to our next activity but I didn't get to do it all I had to go to Mrs Elia.

Responsible Person

A Responsible person is someone that is honest that does tell the truth when someone steals in the community and made a good choice and owned up to their mistakes to the community.

Someone Responsible is someone that respects others like visitors that came from the community and from other places and respect them at all times.

Responsible person support young sibling if they have trouble with their learning ask them if they need your help and support them with their work.

A Responsible person ask their parents for their help when they have trouble at home for an example ask her/him if you can do the dishes for 1 week and she might buy your stationery.
